Collage & AI Fashion
Womenswear
AI Fashion is getting a lot of attention in the fashion industry, with much debate about how it can impact the creative process. While it is still early to draw conclusions, I am curious in experimenting with an AI platform specifically for fashion designers called ‘Refabric’. I produced a small series of womenswear looks in order to gain some knowledge and learn the basic skills in AI fashion for future potential career purposes.
The looks were initially created by making a digital collages, using existing photos of garments from some of my favourite brands that reflect my design aesthetic (e.g. The Row, Toteme, St.Agni, etc), flowers and textures were then added.
I then inserted each collage look into Refabric and was able to practice creating fashion prompts that best describe each look including garment specific details, additional accessories, the type of model for the outfit (e.g. hair colour/style) and background aesthetics.
Overall using Refabric was an interesting and fun way to create designs, especially the ability to insert existing sketches/designs into the platform at the beginning. I wasn’t able to access all of the tools offered in Refabric but I would definitely like to use it in the future.
Note regarding the Slideshows below, the digital collage look I created first is positioned on the far left of each look/slide. The labels on each slide allow for comparison of the AI versions/designs with my digitally created versions (using Photoshop).
