Abstract Chic
- Graduate Collection
Abstract Chic, a conceptual Pre-Fall RTW collection that explores 1960's Parisian Chic and the abstract art movement, particularly the artist Mark Rothko. This collection will inspire people to ‘go outside the box’, challenging them to adopt the ‘New Timeless’ in fashion. The balance between these two influences achieves the aesthetic of elegant classical silhouettes with a twist via abstract art imagery. The collection's contemporary influence is the multi-functional printed scarf that can also be a belt (via feature straps) to build volume in oversized pieces.
Chic elements via the abstract art as the focal point of the collection encourage people to enhance their wardrobe and reflect on their personality and lifestyle.

Working with tailored silhouettes, and neutral colours that reflect Parisian Chic fashion codes. The abstract print colour schemes consist of terracotta, beige and colours from Mark Rothko’s ‘Untitled’ (1955) painting. The quirky three-eyed female image gives a striking contrast with the classical silhouettes and the abstract art background.
Fabrications are mostly wool and delicate fabrics such as satin for the multi-functional scarf. Variations in weight of the wools and textures give the collection a timeless feel remain and relevant in future years.

Hero Body
The Abstract Chic collection has progressed into a Spring/Summer collection. The collection continues to feature and focus on wool (Woolmark) as the main fabrication. Different weights and textures are used to create contrast and provide variation, while also achieving year-round garments.
The abstract female face print with the Mark Rothko inspired background continues to be the focal point of the collection as seen in the Hero Body which was developed into an oversized shirt dress with a shawl collar. The variations in weights of the wools and the satin, and the introduction of a new silhouette as the collection evolves.
